My back story. I have been in various facets of the animal industry since I was 7 years old. Not only have I worked in retail for pet stores, pet food companies and owned my own business creating commemorative jewelry for people who have lost their companions, but I also have done rescue work volunteering in shelters and fostering kittens, I have raised other animals like rats and rabbits, ran my own pet business, read endlessly about all aspects of animals and their care. I took animal first aid courses, was an FFA member, got certified in diet formulation and took every science and animal-related class in High School. I even have a degree in Psycho-Biology Pre-Veterinary with a minor in evolutionary studies all before I even started my mentorship which spanned approximately a year before I got my first breeding cat. Am I rubbing your face in how experienced I am? Quite the opposite. I have spent almost all my life in preparation to become a veterinarian ( a dream I had since I was 7 years old) and still much of my experience while it has certainly helped me, still has never prepared me enough to be a breeder. You are many things as a breeder A Business owner A scientist A researcher A geneticist A nutritionist A wet nurse A investigator A socializer A web designer An accountant A marketer An interviewer An emergency service and ER nurse A funeral director and bearer of bad news A chauffeur A microbiologist A veterinarian You wear many hats some you acquire throughout your time as a breeder. Just like a parent, a mentor is there to guide you and help you navigate trouble or odd situations, prevent sticky situations and help you develop your own goals as a breeder. A mentor provides the nitty gritty information that a textbook can’t tell you without the struggle of learning the hard way.

You may be shocked to see a PAID mentorship program on our website. You may think its bullshit or a scam. You are right that this type of program is rare and almost never seen in the cat breeding world but here’s the thing. I not only run the cattery full time by myself, I also run my household AND I have a second full time business. My time is precious, time away from caring for the cats, my family and managing a second business is limited, heck I work from the time I get up until I go to bed often at midnight or 1 am, but believe me I use this time wisely. Additionally I spend a lot of time and energy to do the research I do. I spend hours, weeks and months reading through research papers, writing information in an easy to understand manner and putting that information to test in hands on work with the cattery. I do a lot of work FOR YOU so you don’t have too. Finally, when I provide information and my time I do so in a raw and readily available manner. I communicate all day long and often give you undivided attention to your questions and needs. When you mentor with me you learn my techniques, my ways (which you can adapt for your own needs) and you and your kitten represent me and my cattery. You become part of my reputation. That’s valuable in itself and to be taken seriously. Just like the career you have chosen, your time, work, energy and expertise are worth something. The people I mentor I want to be successful, produce outstanding kittens and make a name for themselves as a valued Breed Preservationist that advances their breed and maintains a top notch cattery that has their cats welfare first and foremost in their mind. This is not simply a transaction to me, but a friendship, a partnership, another cattery that will carry on my lines and the work I have achieved to be where I am today, that will hopefully surpass after I am no longer here.

At a foundational level, it is important to me to know my mentees understand the full scope of breeding, share similar morals, ethics and goals and are in a position to start a program. Level 1 and 2 of our mentorship program is directed towards any breeders of any experience who want to take their cattery to the next level or really become the outstanding Breeder they always wanted to be. Anyone eager to learn and go above and beyond is more then welcome to utilize our resources. At Level 3 you have the opportunity to continue mentorship that will also result in an actual kitten with breeding rights from Elysian Bengals. This Level is not available to just anyone. Not only must you complete Level 1 and 2 but I must have confidence, we will continue to be a good match as mentor and mentee and that a kitten from my cattery is going to be utilized to their full potential. This level is 100% available at my discretion and could become available at anytime in our mentorship. Breeders that I sell cats to I want to see passion and fire for our breed. I want them to have a vision to push the breed forward. I love to see someone with a desire to preserve the breed which may include more taboo or controversial but well thought out and purposeful plans. I expect my mentees to be engaged, ask questions which may include questioning MY teachings, connect the dots and develop your own thoughts and opinions and provide feedback, thoughts and discussion from the information given.

Mentoring can work in many ways. All breeders and mentors are different in their style of communicating, teaching and showing information, skills, and experiences. It really depends on what works best for you and how you learn. We can communicate via facebook/social media, email, in person, on the phone or a combination of the latter. This allows you to have a mentor that isn’t just in your area, but across the country! Information and support will include an exchange of information, articles, pictures, hands on show and tell, books and more.

Elysian Bengals Mentorship Program Contract TERMS Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals agrees to provide information to mentees or those interested in continued breeder education. Mentees understand the usefulness and execution of this information is dependent on the mentee’s engagement, comprehension, utilization, how often they utilize Mentor and put information to practice. Therefore Mentees acknowledge that Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals makes no guarantee Mentees will exemplify the ability and quality of a top notch breeder including any perceived successes. Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals does guarantee to offer continued lifetime support via reasonable phone, email and in person exchanges of information. Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals has the right to terminate mentor/mentee partnership at any time for any reason (although a discussion, reason and possible resolution will be provided). While our information will be incorporated into Mentees program and discussions, what Mentee learns and gathers is for their continued education and would otherwise diminish their and others paid participation in the mentorship program. Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals is not responsible for any misuse of the information provided in any correspondence whether verbal, written or otherwise. Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals is not responsible for you, your cattery, your cats, kittens or relationships with other catteries, breeders, other individuals or groups of people including successes or failures including illness, disease, or death of cats and kittens. Mentees are responsible for following directions/instructions that can cause liability or harm to themselves, their cats or their cattery. Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals and any mentees will remain independent of each other in which neither can claim one or the other as an employee, agent, contractor or representative of Meghan Waals or Elysian Bengals PAYMENT You are voluntarily paying for our services Payment will be conducted via Paypal, Zelle or, Card. Payment Method Paypal Zelle Card Processing fees will be added to your invoice each billing cycle. Service fees are non refundable. RETURNS AND REFUNDS Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals aims to please all our mentees. We source and prepare our information with the utmost care. We guarantee that our information is unique with original content! If you are dissatisfied with our services please reach out to us directly so we can resolve your concerns. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a refund if : You do not like the information provided thus far Your cats become sick or pass away You are not selling kittens You have issues with other breeders, catteries or other individuals or groups of people/organizations You are not titling or receiving other awards in the show hall You must close your cattery (non inclusive list) No refunds will be provided unless a kitten is involved (see Elysian Bengals Kitten Contract) will be given as Meghan Waals’ information and time has been provided. MODIFICATIONS Any waiver, amendment or change to this contract/agreement will only be valid when placed in writing and approved by both Mentor and Mentee. LEGAL The mentorship terms contains the entire agreement between the parties respecting the matters herein set forth and supersedes all prior discussions and agreements between the parties hereto about such matters. If any provision of this agreement shall be deemed to be unlawful or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such termination shall have no effect on the validity and enforce-ability of the other terms and conditions of this agreement, and the challenged term shall be deemed deleted. In the event that the buyer pays via Paypal, if there is a dispute it will be settled through legal channels and not a dispute through Paypal. Any legal action that occurs in part of this contract will be dealt with and occur at a courthouse in Lancaster County Pennsylvania where the Mentor resides. All legal fees will be the responsibility of the Mentee. This contract is valid even if Mentor and Mentee are no longer on speaking/good terms unless otherwise noted. Should Elysian Bengals dissolve or go out of business, then the terms of the contract are null and void. DISCLAIMER Meghan Waals/Elysian Bengals and its information including website, books, articles, verbal information etc. are not intended to replace a veterinarian, but only to provide an avenue to educate. Modules are individual topics of interest and provide a more ala carte option Courses are a collection of Modules on a specific overall topic, some modules may only be available through a Course Programs are multi-course classes covering in-depth information with the intention of being well rounded as a Breeder or Cat Lover. The programs include Courses and Modules that are not available in the Module or Course section.

You are more then welcome to explore modules and courses in an a la carte format.

Rest assured those relevant modules and courses will be applied to your mentorship, you will not have to do them again and price modifications will apply.

Before payment is accepted we request you sign our contract which simply defines the Terms and Conditions of our partnership where all expectations are written in one place and we are on the same page. Once that is signed we will send an invoice for payment. Finally, before beginning our mentorship we will have you fill out an Intake Form so we can tailor your mentorship to your individual needs.
